Tamar Gronvall is a former judge of the Minnesota Tax Court, former General Counsel for the Minnesota Department of Commerce and for several years, served as a manager of several litigation divisions at the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General, including higher education and employment matters. As a judge, general counsel and manager, she led efforts to use mediation to resolve complex and expensive litigation and to empower parties to preserve their on-going relationships. She is a trained Rule 114 Qualified Neutral.
She received her B.A. with honors from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, with a double major in political science and philosophy. She also received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. Subsequently, as an adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota Law School, she taught the Civil Rights Moot Court and the Legal Research and Writing classes.
In addition to her public service, Tamar has held numerous leadership positions and provided pro bono legal services in a variety of non-profit and legal organizations including The Advocates for Human Rights, the Tubman Center, the Community University Health Care Center, Minnesota Women Lawyers and the Minnesota State Bar Association General Assembly. In her free time, Tamar loves to road cycle, hike, run, travel and officiate weddings.
